

In his “spare” time, Bo loved to hunt, fish, and play cards. When he came home from the garden, he took time to distribute whatever he had throughout his neighborhood and to widows in the church. He was always generous with his extra vegetables. He then helped prepare and deliver the Christmas Baskets on Christmas Eve. As a member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class, he organized the Christmas Eve Breakfast that precedes the preparation of food baskets for needy families. In recent years, he had begun to watch his grandsons play the same sports that Mark once played.īo had been a member of the Maryetta United Baptist Church for 44 years, taking membership April, 30, 1972. During baseball season, they basically ran a restaurant out of the snack building at LHS, which was famous across the state for their “Bo-B-Q’s”. Bo and Debbie were very active Football and Baseball Boosters for Logan High School. He was instrumental in getting a basketball team started at Verdunville Grade School. At Holden Little League, after helping coach T-Ball, Bo coached several Holden Little League and All Star Teams for many years.

As his son, Mark grew, Bo rotated with the seasons through baseball, football, and basketball. Already a sports fan, he became a cheerleading dad at Logan Central and Logan High as Amy cheered her way through junior high and high school. He took a very active role in the lives of his children and grandchildren. As a miner, he worked at #14 Elk Creek, Chafin Coal Company, Sidney Coal Company, and Elkay #3 Pittston Coal Company.īo was a devoted family man. He entered the working world by doing summer work for Logan Planning Mill he later worked at National Cable before entering the coal mines. and Joy Tomblin Butcher and his father-in-law, Denver Garrett.īo attended Logan County Schools and graduated from Logan High School in 1973.
